A Mural Dedication and Donor Recognition Ceremony for the third and final Route 66 mural in Boswell Park was held Sunday, May 6.
The mural, “Nelson Family Legacy,” was completed in April. It pays tribute to the family that donated the land for Route 66 west of Highway 5, then built and operated several landmark businesses, such as the Nelson Hotel and Nelson’s Dream Village.
The ceremony included a public reading of the 143 names of those who donated $100 or more to the mural project, which cost $75,000. A plaque recognizing the donors by name has been placed on the back of the first mural.
