Kip Welborn, president of the Route 66 Gasconade River Bridge Guardians, released this update about the bridge-rehabilitation project to The Lebanon Daily Record for the March 17-18 edition:

“The Route 66 Gasconade River Bridge Guardians have worked nonstop in support of this Bridge since the bridge was closed in December of 2014 and will continue to do so. The Guardians look forward to working with MoDOT, as well as any individual or entity that is willing to assume ownership of the bridge or wants to assist in its eventual rehabilitation.

“The Guardians also hope that, if necessary, MoDOT is willing to be flexible with its deadline, as it is going to take time to find someone to assume ownership of the bridge, time to formulate a plan to rehabilitate the bridge that will meet with everyone’s expectations, time to raise the funds necessary to assess what needs to be done, and time to pay for and complete the rehabilitation.”
